Amplified objects at Bat Yam Museum - "Factory Exhibition"
Daniel Davidovsky was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1965. The last 19 years lives in Tel Aviv. He studied at Buenos Aires University, then in Israel at “Rimon” Contemporary Music School. He learned saxophone playing with private teachers. Attempting electronic music, basically he is auto-didactic. Daniel Davidovsky’s main instruments are soprano saxophone and electronics.
Alongside of collaborations with local and international artists, Davidovsky is also member of the “Musica NovaConsort”, a group of chamber instrumentalists, electronic musicians and a video artist, under the musical direction of Prof. AmnonWolman. The Ensemble plays contemporary electro-acoustic compositions. During 2008 Musica Nova played a 20 min long composition for string quartet, soprano sax, marimba and electronics by Davidovsky, that was premiered at the Ultrasound Festival in Tel Aviv, together with John Duncan and Jennifer Walshe compositions.
Together with Eran Sachs He had curated the series called ‘Ex-Central Station’in Tel Aviv that concentrated in experimental music and video art giving emphasis to new technologies.
His current works concentrate on development of sound instruments under the concept of “Inexpensive Sound Sources” – analogue,”domestic” DIY approached and recycled devices . The work focuses on the subjective forces between randomness and performing tools in search of new approaches to sound and music improvisation.
